This award is for everyone in Vanuatu who shared their stories about what adapting to a rapidly changing ocean ecosystem looks like, while still keeping hope alive along the way. Thank you to @williekenneth @johnronneth, Tatu Whitely, Peter Whitelaw, Christopher Bartlett, @island.reach, @rare_org, @gopro, @picpacific, @thefront and @pbs for your unwavering support and collaboration. @kyle_corea and I can’t wait to bring this award back to Nguna and Pele islands where we will get to finally have a proper screening after 2+ long years! Extra special was getting to share the celebrations with my Florida sista @torilinder & the incredible team at @pathofthepanther for their win in the Ecosystem Long Form category, AND my hometown buddies @alex_pritz @willnmiller and the rest of The Territory team who took home the Grand Teton Award for their film about indigenous land defenders in the Brazilian Amazon. Both tell gripping stories about the protection of some of our greatest wild spaces on earth. Here’s to continuing to tell stories about fighting the good fight. We need them now more than ever.
