We met her @carollcoyne in 2018 at a backpacking workshop, and she was our pack fitting model. Carol, had never backpacked before, and now just four years later she has completed the PCT, and the CDT. “I was initially drawn to long distance hiking nine months before I took my first step on the Pacific Crest Trail. I was backpacking in the Sierra with a friend @k_maurer_ who had plans to start the PCT that next spring, and I decided right there that I would do it! Once I began the trail, it became clear that the hiking community was beyond anything I had ever experienced before. The camaraderie and kindness was unreal! I accepted the trail name ‘Cheer’ during a snowy ascent on Mt. Baden-Powell while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail... I was probably being annoyingly cheerful while cheering people up the mountain. So far I’ve hiked the PCT in its entirety, as well as the CDT. Next up for me is the AT, the Appalachian Trail in 2023 where I will finish my triple crown on Mt. Katahdin.”
