For her, designing is a similar process that begins with sketching in her myriad notebooks. Then comes research, color studies, the meticulous process of choosing the most luxurious and sustainable materials, and the translation of all these ideas to her global network of craftspeople, including the female Italian artisans who spent numerous hours hand-crocheting her signature swirl drawings into exquisite cashmere dresses for Resort. ‘It’s the journey to materialize what you want,’ says Hearst, ‘where the magic really exists.”
