In January we launched a fundraiser in partnership with Sturgill Simpson, The Avett Bros, and Katie Pruitt to help replace instruments lost in the Western Kentucky tornadoes. For the last two days we’ve been down there helping to coordinate an instrument drive of over 400 instruments. We heard stories of people who crawled their way out from under the drywall of their own homes and are just finally starting to get their lives back. Being able to hand them a guitar or a mandolin and see the look on their faces was a powerful experience to say the least. As we’ve learned over the years, instrument drives are just as impactful for the donors as they are for the recipients. So thank you to Western Kentucky for giving us the opportunity to give back, and thank you to all the donors who contributed to this initiative to make it possible. #festivalfamily
