Frustrated at not making progress in the gym? It might be one of these three reasons...
1. You’re not tracking what you’re doing.
If you don’t write down how many reps you get, how much weight you used, how far you ran etc then every workout is guesswork, or at best, relying on a faded memory from last week. To make improvements you have to gradually add stress to the body, so write down how much 'stress' you added today.
2. You’re not going into the gym with a plan
Sure it’s nice to mix it up and be spontaneous every now and again, but it’s a very good habit to enter the gym knowing what you are going to do. Are you trying to get stronger? Are you trying to work on your cardio? What exercises are you going to do?
3. You keep changing exercises
It’s very common for people to do an exercise for a couple of weeks, then completely drop it and do another random one, then go back to it, this kind of chopping and changing makes it really hard to progress. Pick a few exercises, and keep repeating them, whilst gradually adding intensity over 6 - 8 weeks, then see if you’ve made progress.
