Conversation with @di0g0c0elh0 “An historic swell hit Nazaré on Oct 29, 2020. Big wave surfers where there to surf the biggest waves of their lifes and a lot of crowd to witness this giant swell. The perfect excuse to me to shoot b&w film. So i packed my bag with two film cameras, a few rolls of Kodak Professional b&w film and drove 1h30 straight to Praia do Norte, Nazaré. I spent the whole day there on the cliffs in my pursuit of the perfect moment to shoot some of the most beautiful and powerful waves i’ve ever seen in my life. It was a challenge to myself shooting this pictures with a film camera and short lens, getting closer was dangerous, too much sea spray in the air, crowd and photographers everywhere, but i’m really happy with the end results. I’m based in Lisbon, Portugal. The film community here is growing, you always encounter people shooting with film cameras. So many amazing film photographers around here that inspires me. Having friends that are into film photography and being able to share experiences and knowledge pushes me to shoot more and make things better. Finding a good local lab to dev/scan your film rolls is a must. I’m lucky to live in a city where you still find film labs and i’m really happy with my local lab, they do a great job. Also film supply is not an issue. Film is alive in Portugal. Shot this images on a Leica M6 TTL + Elmar 90mm lens from the 1950s with Kodak Tri-X 400.”
