this is very important. when you're doing NEOADJUVANT treatment (meaning before definitive / hopefully curative surgery slash removal), the thing you hope most for is finding a pathCR, meaning complete response. meaning no cancer seen--this is a great prognostic factor for chances of no recurrence. here, immunotherapy is continued after surgery (now called adjuvant) to complete a year. in triple negatives and especially Her2+ disease, it's very important to ask--and ideally see a MEDICAL oncologist (meaning not surgeon or radiation), to see if the guidelines recommend treatment before removal to maximize chances of no recurrence. #breastcancer #beatcancer
