Maybe it’s where I am in my life, maybe it’s because a studio I’m obsessed with opened in my neighborhood, maybe it’s how awesome the instructors are...maybe it’s all of the above, but hot yoga has become a crucial part of my week that I look forward to immensely. (Just leveled up to a monthly membership @heatwise. 🫠) I adore allll of my teachers, but @l_bella really helped me fall in love with this practice. ❤️🔥 Leah stayed after class to give me some things to play with on my own as I work toward a headstand. (I’ll happily take any tips and encouragement from you beautiful yogis out there bc I know many of you have a yoga practice!) Disclaimer that I am fully a (proud!) beginner, but this is what I learned today in my own beginner words....
1️⃣ Lock your setup: crown of head into floor, make a nook with your hands, position forearms to form the sides of a triangle, push into the ground. All my Body&Bell scapula push-ups should help as I practice this pose.
2️⃣ Recruit your core muscles to pull legs in toward chest before even attempting to go up. Like making a child’s pose shape in the air.
3️⃣ Take a moment to breathe and reset at the bottom as you come out. And if you fall along the way—as long as you do it carefully and gently and hopefully with a smile—all good, “it’s just yoga,” as Leah says. ♥️
