THE MISSION CONTINUES —— My mission to drive change at scale has been steadfast for over two decades. When appointed to the role of Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer and later Co-president of the Recording Academy, my vision was for us to become the most inclusive organization in music and the world. For over two years, we were bold, courageous, and collaborative in our pursuit to ensure equitable outcomes for all music people. Together, we were the first major music awards show to implement an inclusion rider, published the Women in the Mix study to examine the experiences of women working in the American music industry, founded the Black Music Collective, produced the first Recording Academy Honors, launched the HBCU Love Tour and established ground-breaking partnerships with Color of Change, GLAAD and RAMPD to name a few. Also, our amazing team of partners produced the MOST INCLUSIVE GRAMMY Awards show in our history. This is a continuation, not a stop as I proudly accept an appointment to the Academy’s Black Music Collective as an Honorary Chair and step humbly and responsibly into my next chapter as the Vice President of Partnerships at Google.
