Included in this week’s dispatch is @canterburyofnz’s latest campaign, The World’s Toughest Activewear, embracing the innate resilience of New Zealanders.
To showcase that resilience, the brand has worked once again with photographer and visual artist @tom_gould, who has taken portraits featuring people from Te Tairāwhiti/Gisborne region, an area extensively damaged by floods and a cyclone in March this year.
“It’s this positivity and Kiwi resilience I wanted to capture in the new brand creative and gallery exhibition I’ve developed for Canterbury of New Zealand,” says Tom. “I wanted to portray this resilience in a way that shows beauty in the stillness and repetitive nature of everyday life. I have been a long-time fan of the ‘World’s Toughest Activewear’ and it’s been special to share the stories that showcase the true characters of the mighty East Coast of Aotearoa.”
Tom, who has also contributed to Viva over the years has an arresting body of work, exhibiting at MoMA, working with renowned NBA stars and musicians from here and around the globe, and working closely with brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren.
“We’re giving our community the opportunity to vote for and win their favourite image from Tom’s portraits," says AJ Moriarty, head of product and marketing for Canterbury New Zealand.
"Each vote equates to a $1 contribution, up to a total of $10,000 for I Am Hope. Resilience comes from a place of strong mental health, and we admire the work I Am Hope does to help build mental health and resilience with the young people of New Zealand.”
