2 years ago, during the early days of the pandemic and in response to the murder of George Floyd, I started talking to friends and family about “reclaiming” Fort Greene Park in peaceful demonstration and through the encouragement and support of friends, @thelayoutco was born, 2 years ago today, 6/7/2020. And 2 years later, here we are. We show up a little differently than we did in for this first one but to date, we’ve held 7 Lay Outs and dedicated 2 benches in Fort Greene Park, took over the The Booklyn Museum to relaunch First Saturdays, held several movie screenings in partnership with @rooftopfilms, funded the stocking of community fridges through @onelovecommunityfridge, partnered with @thewideawakes for our events and much more. Thank you to my partners in this, @thewowfactor_ (put it in the chat!), @ma.nush.ka, @officiallycy @michaeloloyede_ for coming together so quickly to bring this to life. Thank you to the @fortgreeneparkbk for helping us to reclaim this space.
