An excellent book to sink your teeth into about life in Berlin in the 1930’s. It follows William Dodd, the American ambassador and his family who lived for over a year in Berlin. It’s chilling to see how one madman rose to the ranks of a seemingly civilized European country and not only brainwashed a nation, but restricted any media that did not fit with his ruling ideology, banning some of the most sacred literature and art.
