🤓📝 Let’s talk numbers; St. Peter's Basilica is the TALLEST church dome in the world at 136.5 meters or 448.1 feet, measuring in at 42x41,5 meters in diameter. Modeled after one of the most famous domes from antiquity - the Pantheon. It served as a Roman temple and, later, as a Catholic church. With a diameter of 43.3 meters, it is the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world. St Paul’s then? Visible from within the cathedral is the inner dome, a masonry shell with a diameter of 101 feet (31 metres). With its 45.5 meters of diameter and a total height of more than 116 meters, the Florence dome is the largest masonry vault in the world and was built between 1420 and 1436 by Filippo Brunelleschi - but it is not HIGHER than St Peter’s hence not considered “larger”. 🤷🏻‍♀️They’re all beautiful though!
