Yesterday was a 2AM rise and grind with @j.rubekube up Longs Peak which sits at 14,259 feet. It’s almost a 15 mile hike with 5,000 feet elevation gain and we were able to make it to the keyhole just in time for sunrise. After the keyhole was no joke- it’s sheer cliffs, tons of scree and bouldering, and quite honestly it’s the first time in my life I’ve felt the fear of heights hit me which was surreal. I got a little bit of altitude sickness which didn’t help but I was monitoring myself before we hit the summit. We had perfect conditions yesterday and I don’t know that I would’ve tried to summit if I wasn’t with my buddy Rubek, who I’m pretty sure is part mountain goat with how fast he can climb up and down that mountain 😂😂. It was a very tough hike for me yesterday since my knees were hurting the entire time down, but I’m glad I pushed past my fears to finally hit this peak.
