It is with great honor that we announce the acquisition of the catalogue of German poet and songwriter Wolf Biermann today, on his 86th birthday. This will be the first time that Wolf Biermann's entire catalog will be represented by a publisher and label. The extensive musical oeuvre includes over 300 music titles as well as the corresponding texts. Poems as spoken texts are also included as sound recordings. As the harshest critic of the GDR, Biermann became public enemy No. 1 and a symbolic figure of the resistance. His songs circulated under the table, his song "Ermutigung" became the secret anthem of the politically persecuted. In 1976, Biermann was expatriated against his will and against every legal norm, which triggered an unexpectedly large wave of protest.
