Today is a big day for all Canada! @Meta just announced their plans to build an engineering hub in Toronto! It will create up to 2500 jobs in the coming years. These jobs will develop the future of the metaverse both here and in remote parts of Canada. Opening opportunities to people outside of major cities is key from and accessibility point of view and really pushes the power of technolgies that bring us together like Meta Quest and augmented reality(AR). They have also committed over CAD 500,000 in research grants for labs including @OCADUniversity, UofT, and UWaterloo. As an OCAD U alumn working in emerging media, I'm thrilled to see their interest in bringing more diverse and inclusive conversations to the metaverse. Meta has been an essential part of my business whether it's promoting through this platform, creating augmented reality experiences, or sharing my 3D work. I'm curious to see how all these products will integrate more seamlessly through the metaverse. #Ad Meta paid an honorarium to cover the cost of my time for this campaign, but this post, as always, contains my own opinions.
