Every year, I get super emotional before my kids’ birthdays and try to find as many ways as I can to slow down time—or even freeze it—through drawings, handprints, little keepsakes. But with Romy turning 13 next week, it’s hitting me a bit extra this year. I’ve been meaning to get her handwriting tattooed for a while now, and doing it before she officially becomes a teenager felt like a way to hold onto her innocence and keep it close to me forever.
