15 years ago, I became a Miller. My fifth and final last name. That might sound strange to some, but between the ages of 0 and 22, I didn’t truly belong to anyone. I bounced around, taking the last names of people who claimed to want me but didn’t keep me. No one ever laid permanent claim to me. No one ever said, you’re safe here, you’re mine, you belong. There was no such thing as forever in my mind. And then I met you. You took a girl who belonged nowhere and to no one and made her yours. You covered me in love, protection, and peace.
