Social media apps have made it easier for creators to make their videos more accessible, more deaf friendly. More automatic captions features are coming out! Obviously, the two most popular social media platforms right now are Instagram and TikTok. I want to go over them both, and do a bit of a Battle Of The Automatic Captions. For the record, this is my opinion based on my own experiences with both apps and systems. For me, I find TikTok’s automatic captioning system to be much better than Instagram’s. It’s so much easier to edit as you have a dedicated space for editing them, and they don’t reset themselves. I never have to worry about losing my work, and I can access everything easily. Instagram, however, is much more difficult. If your finger touches the wrong spot on the screen, or if your finger swipes funny while you’re trying to scroll to edit, all of your captions disappear and all of your work is lost. Now you have to start all over. If you have a longer Story, that becomes such a huge pain to deal with. So for me, TikTok is the winner here. But let me know what you think! What are your experiences with editing automatic captions on TikTok and Instagram? Whether you use both or just one app. Let me know!
