Today I had the realization that I am a “WTC survivor”—that is someone who lived, worked, or went to school in the disaster area which covers Manhattan below Houston and sections of Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo. I believe many more survivors are out there. Many of them friends. Not only did we make it through that day and the terror and pain of its aftermath—we LIVE here. We stayed. NY is our home. But that bold, inspiring, and tenacious act may have health consequences for us. Health issues that take 10...20...30 years to manifest. Health issues like 60 types of cancer and many other things.
