Much of what we/I do is sentimental. But every so often there comes along a piece that is truly meaningful, and truly special to not only the wearer, but to myself as well. This was one of them. First there was the joy of @whenlifegivesyouclemans emailing me to ask about making an engagement ring for his gf. An already sweet email mentioning his connection to Maine, his girlfriend sharing photos of rings she liked (that I made), and a little about what she did.... was made even sweeter when I returned it with “are you talking about Marya Spence??”. He had no clue I had known her many years. The process was a joy. She loved the ring. They got engaged. We decided on wedding bands. But........ the loveliest moment came when @maryawhitney asked me if I could repurpose a jade bangle her mother had given her years ago, that had since broken into three pieces. Being that her mother is half Chinese, it was important that some Chinese traditions be incorporated into the wedding ceremony and she wondered if this might be it. We talked about making an actual bracelet again out of the pieces. And then one day... down to the last minute, it came to me, to us, and there it is above. A lovely Pia ring inlaid with the jade. Such a joy and a privilege Marya~ thank you for letting me play such a special part in this story 🤍
