REPLYING TO COMMENTS DURING LUNCH (PART 1) >>
COMMENT : too slow, too easy. you’ll need to do a million of these in a row to see results.
REPLY : I respectfully disagree. Slow and controlled movements will help you get the most out of your workouts in these ways:
1. Less reliance on momentum : Your muscles (and therefore true strength) put in the work during slow movements and the alternative (quick movements) is simply physics.
2. Using your full range of motion : You’ll increase mobility and strength when you slow down and use the body’s full range of motion. Fast movements shorten that range.
3. Better technique and form : Proper form isn’t as necessary (or apparent) in fast movements because of the speed. Slower movements shine light on your form, helping you to correct and address any weakness.
4. Injury prevention : Moving slowly will prevent injury because you add in an awareness of intention and technique.
5. More effective : Slow movements build more strength and function then fast movements.
