I’m no expert when it comes to Roja Parfums @rojaparfums . I have only smelled probably a dozen of them, so there are dozens more that I haven’t tried yet. However, I think I do have a rough general idea of what Roja Parfums is as a luxury fragrance house. When it comes to Apex, I can immediately tell that this is Roja Dove’s vision to modernize his brand while still largely remain intact with his truest style as a master perfumer. Apex opens with bright and fresh citruses. Juicy pineapple note comes soon after, alongside hints of floral elements. This aroma in the opening reminds me of some of the greatest modern men’s fragrances like Aventus, Hacivat, Sauvage and of course Elysium! Apex gets really really interesting and unique after 20-30 minutes of spraying it. This is when I smell the true identity / personality of this fragrance: fougere/ green chypre. So many great elements come all at once but in harmony. I get leather, fir, resinous and boozy elements, oakmoss and patchouli. Loads of patchouli. Dirty and earthy patchouli yet so addictive and masculine. This dry down is like an autograph signature by Roja Dove himself, it is undoubtedly a creation of his. Overall, Apex (in the context of both the fragrance and also the presentation) surely seems like a step for Roja Parfums to appeal to broader fragrance lover segments, while holding tight to its heritage, tradition and legacy. I’d say it is a successful effort in that regard! Time is moving forward fast and it is nice to see fragrance houses like Roja Parfums are embracing changes! Thank you so much @official_europerfumes for sending this fragrance to me. Apex is now available in the US at @perfumology
