Wearing the new @borsalino_world Black Iris. And I remember the first time I heard about the brand was in the 80s with one of their classic men’s Chypre fragrances. Chypre but quite aromatic and herbal so to me Fougere like. Flip through the images and you’ll see which fragrance I’m speaking about. This Black Iris is for sure highlighting the Iris/Orris in its true raw form. But it does start of quite fresh and citrusy. To me it’s quite spicy, seems like peppery spices are added or a spice that acts like pepper and very woody. But it’s doesn’t feature much sweetness. It’s sweet but not very sweet. There’s certainly carrotty 🥕 feel about it. So it’s quite vegetal and rooty. Eventually, it settles to lots of woods, maybe some light amber but even though it’s quite powdery, you really do experience the smooth butterryness of the Iris. It’s enjoyable to wear. It doesn’t smell anything like DHP or DHI if you’re wondering. I mean you might get some vibes just because it’s Iris/Orris focused but not identical. But overall a pleasant non-offensive wear focusing on Iris/Orris. 😀
