Last month at the MAK Center for Art and Architecture in Los Angeles, one hundred guests rang in the Schindler House centennial with an experimental supper by Michelin-starred Chef Minh Phan of Phenakite. Her menu was rooted in the concept of “good fire,” complimenting architect RM Schindler’s own concept of architecture connecting earth with hearth. Envisioning fire as both a practice of cultural stewardship and ecological necessity, Chef Minh’s tasting menu told an epic story about food’s connection to the ecoologies and eons they embody.
