The House of LaBeija is an institution in New York’s Black queer community. Founded by the late Crystal LaBeija, it’s widely thought to be the world’s first ballroom house. Since then, it’s been featured in the 1990 film “Paris Is Burning” and on shows like “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and HBO’s “Legendary”. In photographer @mylesloftin series “True Beauties”, he captures the glorious faces of the House’s New York chapter. He chats to WePresent about his highlights from the series and the importance of archiving Black queer life and joy. Link in bio. ✍️: @alimkheraj
