I am finally able to share BREATHING FREE with the world!! It was a true honor to dance and serve as the Associate Movement Director for this beautiful work of Black Art. From Heartbeat Opera: In celebration of Juneteenth, we are thrilled that our critically-acclaimed visual album Breathing Free is now available on YouTube, where it will live forever, free and accessible for all to enjoy! This 45-minute film, focusing on Black empowerment in the arts, and featuring excerpts from Beethoven’s Fidelio, Negro Spirituals, and songs by Harry T. Burleigh, Florence Price, Langston Hughes, Anthony Davis, and Thulani Davis, was created by a diverse company of more than 30 artists from October to December 2020. Breathing Free also features the voices of more than 100 incarcerated singers and 70 volunteers from six prison choirs: Oakdale Community Choir, KUJI Men’s Chorus, UBUNTU Men’s Chorus, HOPE Thru Harmony Women’s Choir, East Hill Singers, and Voices of Hope.
