#GetHerThere is all about the ways that we can come together to support girls around the world. That’s what we did today in New York, where the @GirlsOpportunityAlliance celebrated the power and potential of girls everywhere at an event hosted by @MarsaiMartin. We heard girls’ stories from countries like Guatemala, Kenya, and Vietnam about the barriers they have to overcome and the difference attaining an education has made in their lives. @SaraBareilles reminded all of us of our own power with an inspiring performance. @MelindaFrenchGates, Amal Clooney, and Wanjiru Wahome from the @SamburuGirlsFdn joined me to talk about why our world gets better when we support girls’ education—and announced a collaboration between the Girls Opportunity Alliance, the @ClooneyFoundationforJustice, and the @GatesFoundation to support grassroots champions and organizations to help end child marriage and advance gender equality. We can’t do this work alone. This is just the beginning of our five-year Get Her There campaign to support hundreds of community-led organizations around the world that will support thousands of adolescent girls.
