Thanks so much to @fox31denver for having me on to discuss my exhibit at the Denver International Airport @denairport 🙏🙏 It was awesome getting to discuss the background on the gallery and the process of making it come to life, but the most important part for me was talking about why it even exists in the first place. Over ten years before I ever picked up my first camera I dealt with depression, anxiety, and suicide contemplation, and since this mental health awareness month I wanted to talk about that in this interview. It was definitely the most vulnerable I’ve made myself in talking about my mental health struggles and throwing it out there on TV is a whole other animal, but it just flowed and I felt so relieved after I did. I felt like I’ve been hiding behind my camera in a lot of ways so to be able to discuss this was so deeply meaningful to me. Don’t be ashamed if you’re struggling mentally, find a tribe of people around you to talk to, find your white space in nature and art like I did, or seek professional help if you need to. There are a lot of ways and a lot of people out there that are willing to help and listen if you’re willing to ask and talk.
