“Short Beach Christmas Tree” Back in Summer 2017 I moved to the small coastal neighborhood of Short Beach located in Branford, CT and lived there for 3.5 years. It was such an amazing experience with views of the water every morning when I woke up, drove to work and came back home to at the end of every day. The friendships among all of the neighbors on my street was something I’ve never experienced living anywhere else and made it such a special place to live. In December 2019 I saw someone post a photo from a block over of this Christmas Tree in someone’s backyard by the beach and water. I wasn’t able to make it over to get a shot of it, but the next year after digging out from a fresh snowstorm I didn’t have time to make it very far before sunset. So I threw on my boots and grabbed my camera bag to head over to see if they put up the tree again. Luckily for me they had set it up so that I had a chance to capture this magical scene. The sun was beginning to set as I arrived and a patch of whispy clouds was moving in just in time to catch some of the color. The lights on the tree kicked on for me and sliver of moon made an appearance to complete the perfect conditions for this stunning winter shoreline sunset scene.
