20 years ago, a 23 yr old artist from south side of Chicago auditioned for @missymisdemeanorelliott reality show! My mom had just been diagnosed with colon cancer after a long life of drug addiction. My father was incarcerated who later died from injuries he suffered in prison. Strictly and religiously raised by my grandmother who raised me but condemned my lifestyle. My neighborhood was infested with drugs, gang activity, gun violence, pimps, whores, bootleggers, etc. I knew it was a better life for me. I had already had and lost 2 major deals at this point because I didn’t conform to what the labels and management wanted me to “look like”. So I wrote a song on the show titled “Why Me” because I just wanted to be free from other peoples thoughts and opinions and I wanted people to accept the anointing God had on my life. I WON this show. Both my parents and grandmother got a chance to witness this WIN. They are my angels now resting in heavenly peace with no more pain from this cold and cruel world we live in. I was destroyed and tired of the pain, knowing that I was the Only one to blame. I never looked back. I hustled and worked my ass off, sandwich shops, nail salons,I even played the trains of New York to maintain my independence. Always held my own. Lived by myself until I met the love of my life. God been so good to me. If I can pass that painful test and turn it into a testimony, then so can you! After almost 20 years, this is the first time in my life I feel FREE! Im HAPPY and BLESSED!
