“Simba, you have forgotten me. You have forgotten who you are, and so forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you have become. You must take your place in the Circle of Life. Remember who you are. You are my son, and the one true King. Remember who you are” I’ve always had a strange concept of Simba,Mufasa and Scar existing within me. Mufasa is The best Version of Myself in the Future, Simba is the Current version of myself, Scar represents all my insecurities or shortcomings. I’ve had periods of fleeing running through the elephant grave yard, and then periods in the Jungle where nothing mattered, Life was just fun and meaningless. And scar destroyed the kingdom. Then there was that moment “you have forgotten me” and the reflection in the water looked a little murky. Story ends well, Simba rises, he defeats Scar and takes his spot as King. The real game changer for me was realizing Scar wasn’t anyone else or any other circumstance, scar is a part of me, and by accepting that I was empowered to defeat that version of myself.
