This work means 86 new homes will be created in Toronto, with 24/7 on-site supports for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The work on this site is divided in two phases: a motel renovation with 22 new homes (Phase 1) and addition of a new five-storey building using modular construction with 64 new homes (Phase 2). This building is the result of a partnership between the federal, provincial, and municipal governments, combining federal capital funding through the Rapid Housing Initiative, provincial operating funding for support services, and municipal capital funding, including Open Door incentives to waive development charges and planning and building permit fees.
