Playing an early nineties VHS recording of my grandmother and other family members wrapping my aunts’ dowry in a traditional manner, tying layered contrasting sheets over themselves to create a kundimi, or bindle. In the background—me, fascinated by the scene and not knowing yet it would inspire signature visual element of my future work, a flower-like knot.
