Cheers to 3 years cancer freeee✨✨✨ Three years ago today I had my lumpectomy surgery to remove a tumor from me a mere 3 days after being diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, the most aggressive kind with a fast growing tumor. Thankfully they got clear margins and the lymph nodes they removed were negative therefore I was technically declared cancer free and began a long journey of treatment with chemotherapy and radiation to clear up any rogue cells that might have been floating around. With triple negative breast cancer, because of how aggressive it is, they say if it hasn’t come back in the first 3 years, your chances of it coming back reduce significantly and if it hasn’t come back at 5 years you are likely cured. I made it this far guys, only 2 more years until I can officially close this chapter and hopefully move on. 🙏 I fought for my diagnosis with my doctors, fought through treatment, fought to heal my body, fought to get my life back on track. But I’m tired of being called a fighter, or resilient. Now I want softness, I want peace and I’m very protective of my time and space and who I let in to my orbit. If there is one good thing that came out of this madness, it’s that now I can help other young people who are being diagnosed and pass along my knowledge to others and guide them on their own journeys. If you are recently diagnosed or fighting through treatment right now, I can definitely tell you that a few years out, it’s clear skies on the other side of it all. You will close this chapter one day and move on. You might not be the same person who walked in to it but you certainly will appreciate how far you’ve come. Everyone says that everything is so important until you are sick. And it couldn’t be more true.
