Challah French toast 💖 Challah is easy to make dairy free Ingredients for one challah... 280 soya milk 7g fast action yeast 120g caster sugar 500g bread flour 1 tsp vanilla extract 80g melted dairy free butter 8g salt Method- add yeast to 100ml tepid soya milk. Leave for ten minutes to bloom- should become frothy. In a mixing bowl add the flour, melted butter, sugar, salt and vanilla. Mix together then add the yeast mixture. Mix together then turn out to knead for 10 mins or so until the dough becomes elastic and doesn’t tear easily when stretched. Don’t add lots of extra flour when doing so. Once kneaded, form into a ball and set aside in a bowl with a damp tea towel on top and leave until double in size. When doubled knock the dough back and divide into how ever many strands you want to make for the braided bread. You can find many videos online that can demonstrate the different braid techniques. Once braided place on a lined baking tray and cover again. Leave for 45 mins then brush with soya milk or soya cream for a shiny finish. Bake for 30-35 mins at 180 or until golden brown.
