This trend really got me thinking back to when I was a young girl who just moved to the US from the Philippines and felt so out of place. It was rough to say the least. Kids joked about my accent, & the Filipino food I’d bring to lunch. Plus I was so small, they’d call me “shrimp,” among other things, and the list goes on.
