Shimoda is magical. Three hours from Tokyo genkan to white sandy beaches. We stayed at Cabana Shimoda Iritahama. Fell asleep and woke up to the sand of the ocean. Soft sand and rough waves. Crystal clear water. A beautiful end to Summer days. *I say the end of Summer, the season doesn't officially end until September 22nd, but the end of August is the closing day for many Japanese beaches. No more beach houses or lifeguards. The Return to school and the start of the final quarter of the year.
