One year ago today was one of the best days of my life. I found out I got a job I never thought I could pursue - my dream job! That too, after over a year of job hunting and uncertainty. In that time, I was mentally not okay I was constantly stressed, felt defeated and hopeless. Yet through it all my dad had my back. Whether it’s the resume revamps, consoling me from rejections (if I hadn’t already been ghosted), or sticking up for me when people made snide comments about my job hunt struggles and pursuing an unconventional career, he supported me through and through. The moment I found out I got my job at Popsugar (a day after his actual birthday), I ran into my dad’s arms to tell him while profusely crying, and he said, “this is my birthday gift.” Not only did that make me cry even more, but it was probably the one statement that made my heart feel so full. Finally, I made him proud. This time last year, I got him a bottle of scotch to celebrate his birthday (a day later) and the fact that I got a job! And now, a year later, he still deserves all the bottles of scotch and more! Here’s to celebrating my biggest supporter in life, my best friend, and the ultimate #girldad. Happy Birthday, dude ❤️ 🍻🍾
