NETWORKING. Here are some thoughts and tips around networking. Remember, networking doesn’t require money...it requires consistency. 1. Networking should be “one way”. Don’t ask for things in return, just add value. 2. Be patient. Don’t expect immediate results, your planting long term seeds. 3. It’s not the little things...it’s the consistent things. Outreach should be part of your daily habits. 3 DM’s, emails or handwritten letters a day is 1,000 a year. That’s a lot of reach over time. 4. The “thank you note” is a lost art form. That’s a powerful tool in your toolbox. Why? It’s a FREE OPPORTUNITY to make contact with someone again. It’s another bite at the apple. It’s your chance to word your follow up in a strategic way. Take advantage of it. 5. The younger you start building your network and getting yourself out there the better. I started at 21-22 years old writing 10 handwritten letters to people everyday. I still write handwritten letters to this day. Remember, when you are networking you are playing offense. You’re not waiting around.
