Mega Mega Mega Dream Concert Alert! One month from today! @hiatuskaiyote and @flyinglotus at @hollywoodbowl w orchestral arrangements by yours truly! I’ll also be performing w both bands. I’ve been working 10-16 hrs every day on the arrangements for the legendary 65pc Hollywood Bowl Orchestra towards this concert. What a pure joy! This is the greatest professional honor and pleasure of my life and I couldn’t be anymore grateful and excited! I’ve been obsessed with orchestral music ever since I can remember, growing up in a household that had it on constant rotation. After starting violin lessons at age 4 and starting to write my first compositions around 6 yrs old, I started writing my first symphonic pieces at age 8. I’ve always dreamed in sound, visuals, and emotion. Storytelling and connecting w people’s hearts has always been the goal and to have as much fun as possible. The first book on orchestration that I ever remember studying was by Henry Mancini. It helped me complete my first presentable original symphonic piece of my life at age 10 ‘Serenade in D Maj’. I was lucky enough to have the Palisades Symphony play it down twice during a rehearsal that same year and I was forever hooked. It was a great thrill and profound honor two years later to actually play viola in the orchestra under the baton of Henry Mancini as part of the Disney Youth Orchestra in 1992. I’ve been telling Flying Lotus for over ten years that one of my biggest dreams is to arrange his music for orchestra. We’ve actually had plans each of the last three years to do it at the Bowl, but the pandemic suggested otherwise. This is such a longtime coming and has so much meaning to me. Hiatus Kaiyote has been one of my favorite bands since I first heard of them some ten years ago. They’re some of the most soulful, creative, fun, and authentic people that I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and collaborating with over the years. We’re also doing the same show w the amazing San Diego Symphony Aug 23. These are the first of hopefully many shows we’ll be doing of this symphonic material. I’d love to see you there!!
