What owls have you been spotting, or are hoping to spot, this year? 🦉👀 One November day, Brian Browne (@brianbrownephotography) and his grandmother drove to Agate Lake, a small reservoir in Oregon, to look for birds. He heard that a Burrowing Owl (a local rarity) had been spotted there and began searching for it. After a while, he found it sitting at the end of a cut deeply riveted and gnarled log. As evening set in and the temperature plunged, Brian watched and took some photos, the details in the wood framing the small owl crouched in the hollow perfectly. His final shot highlights the black and gray log contrasted with some pieces of lichen and spiderwebs that cling to the wood. Spurs of wood jut into the central hollow and seem to point towards the brown owl in the center, its piercing yellow eyes looking straight at the camera. Brian's stunning shot earned him a spot on the 2022 #AudubonPhotographyAwards top 100 list.
