Spatial liminality //
This project is an experimental deconstruction of the creative process, of both artist and audience. Thus, the audience is invited to witness the trajectory of the artists creative mind, while confronting their own mental and creative thought process. The liminal space is critical to existence, because it is the transitory and initial stage of a process in evolution.
The in-between space where uncertainty lives, holds infinite possibilities. Which is where the artist is interested in investigating. In the context of her practice, the canvas becomes a liminal space, the studio simulates a liminal space, and the mind transforms the space from which creative possibilities emerge.
The aim of this project is to investigate, cultivate and deconstruct the creative process by simulating liminal spaces, in order to challenge routine, spark creativity, investigate the possibilities of the human mind; in order to open up dialogues for sustainable creative spaces within cities, that are in harmony with nature.
Stacey Ejiroghene Okparavero is the artist selected for the LAGOS-BERLIN residency programme by the Goethe-Institut Nigeria together with the partners H-Factor Lagos, SAVVY Contemporary and ZK/U – Center for Art and Urbanistics in 2022.
