On the night of 13 April 2024, Iran launched retaliatory strikes against Israel for a Syrian Consulate strike resulting in death of two Iranian generals. Codenamed “Operation True Promise,” Iran and their terror group affiliates unleashed over 300 Ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and suicide drones in a coordinated strike against Israel. Iran’s promise was thoroughly broken by U.S. and coalition forces. In alert posture and under incoming ordnance alarm conditions, our pilots launched into the maw of danger to defend our ally and forces in the region. “Between fighter engagements and layered missile defense of U.S. and Israel, 99% of Iranian munitions were intercepted with zero casualties sustained,” recounted Capt Kyle Abraham, F-15E pilot class of 2019. “It was a big night for the 48th FW and the Air Force as a whole. 2 Bronze Stars, 14 DFCs, and 2 Silver Stars, and a lot of people who deserve recognition beyond that.” Among these decorated were Kyle himself, and 3 2018 graduates, Captains Logan Cowan, Claire Eddins, and Carla Nava. All our Zoo Grads earned DFCs. A glorious feat, warriors. Well done. Go Air Force. #Zamp #Strong
