Decided to upload it here as well, ‘as frankly I only have a couple of hundred subs on YouChoob... :) 

I love the original track, and was more interested than normal when I came to learn of the instrumental and acappella being released to the public in commemoration of the track’s 5-year anniversary. Off I went to their Bandcamp to acquire them! Fortune would have it that I was overseas at the time, doing my best to shake myself out of a funk I’d been in for months, barely answering my phone and coming off most social media, here included. One decision regarding direction was made pretty early on into things: there was NO WAY IN HELL that I would embarrass myself trying to sing on a track that previously had Tyler Daley all over it; there are levels to this shit, chuss mi. 😬 So with that in mind, I needed a new spin on what ‘Still Standing’ could mean to *me*, particularly with the/my world looking the way it did at that point. The end result is what you see and hear here. Nothing too angsty or soul-searchy (I don’t think, you can tell me otherwise if you disagree), merely a few musings on where my head was at, snapshots in written form, a little self-reflection I guess. I only hope that some of you are picking up what I’m putting down here.

In an attempt to make it a little more ‘mine’ rather than simply jumping on someone’s riddim, I called in the unfathomably giving human @tommy_hotspur to (again) provide some guitar noodles for me, which resulted in me also getting unexpected BVs from @roisinquinnmusic that, to my ears, added texture I’d never have gotten alone (‘cos I’d never have thought to even ask anyone else). @thebrass3 provided me some classy AF horns, the likes of which I’d never even dealt with before this... I don’t often wear my production hat at all, but to extend such efforts to a track I didn’t originally make was a definite series of firsts. If y’all end up liking it, then it wasn’t for nowt. Big up.
