If you are a people pleaser and want to break the habit, you’re going to want to listen to episode 140 of The PedsDocTalk Podcast: Finding Joy-How people-pleasing negatively impacts motherhood 🎙️
People pleasers can have many characteristics but here are a few examples:
➡️ You place all your worth on others’ happiness above your own.
➡️ Committing even though you’re mentally and physically exhausted.
➡️ Not asking for help to avoid burdening others.
➡️ Forgiving people who don’t change hurtful behaviors.
➡️ Adapting to fit into a situation rather than listening to your own needs.
➡️ Constantly apologizing, whether it’s at work or at home.
➡️ and much more...
People pleasing is a learned coping response from childhood.
I’m a recovering people pleaser and as a wife, physician, mother, and business owner I’ve really had to change my people-pleasing ways to continue to be kind but recognize my emotional and physical needs and boundaries.
In my most recent podcast episode, I go over what a people pleaser is, how it can affect you and your mental health as a mother, and how to begin to overcome it.
From setting boundaries to creating affirmations, I cover it all in my podcast launching today.
