I still remember those low moments in my life when everything around me felt dark and cold, when I was questioning why is this happening to me, why can’t this person be this way...holding onto sadness more than joy. Even though those moments were challenging and I used to just want to shut that past away completely, I look back now in a more gentle way, thankful and proud of the Helen at that time who still smiled despite the chaos around and inside of her, who loved and cared for everyone around her, putting them before herself...thankful that the past helped me become the person I am today. There’s always a choice to look at your challenges in a hard or fun way- an opportunity to help you become a better version of yourself.
