The inaugural set of ceramics we create with Stòffa is made from a local Tuscan clay known for its unique elasticity and malleability. These characteristics allow the artisans to create dense, compact shapes. Each cup is individually made by hand, as they go through a process of molding, glazing and painting. The crema glaze is an homage to the colors of the Solimene workshop while the frosted terracotta highlights our reverence for the natural shade of this beautiful clay. Each cup design is a play on traditional proportions and forms: the first is modeled after espresso cups from Italian train station cafes and the second is modeled after a tea cup used in Indian train cars.
