The last painting I made in 2021. This was made in response to an invitation to exhibit at TCC Southeast campus for, Black is Black: Invitational, curated by @johnaspriggins. Thanks John for including me in this show! I took the title of the show quite literal and created an image explaining what I think about when I hear the word Black/black. Recently, my mom reminded me that when I was in elementary, I’d would use the words brown, beige, and peach when describing someone’s skin color. I’m still trying to understand how our brains have allowed Black and White to remain in our lexicon. “Brown, Beige, Peach; Black is Black” 24” x 36” Oil and acrylic on canvas 2021 The closing reception for Black is Black: Invitational will be next week March 2nd 5-7pm. Hope to see you there!
