It's an unspoken truth that Vogue is every fashion editor's dream—no actually, it's every fashion PERSON’S dream. But I am by nature, pragmatic. And yet, here I am. Once again a new editor, re-treading how it is to create narratives not only of nostalgia but also of nowness—in a publication with a sacred heritage that has always defined the culture of fashion. I bear witness to the absoluteness that there is no desire inside us without an equal amount of possibilty to make it into reality. I am letting myself dream and I invite you to come with. We have made our first cover not just anywhere, but here. Not just anyone, but our country. And not just anything, but everything Filipino. This first issue is an exaltation of beauty, artistry, and creativity in a sequence of stories, photos, and visual postcards signed with love from the Philippines. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity that was given to me, along with the whole spectacular team to have crafted this Vogue for the Philippines and this Vogue Philippines for the world. ____ The Philippines is fashion’s new frontier. For our maiden issue, Vogue Philippines takes you on a voyage through the three main islands of the Philippine archipelago—Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
